Handmade bands from our Toronto studio

All our bands are designed and handcrafted in our Toronto studio by artisan-goldsmiths Christian Hasler and Helen Kim-Hasler. From understated gold bands and hand-engraved designs to diamond-set and gemstone bands, each piece is made with careful attention to proportion, comfort and how it will be worn on its own or together with other rings.

We work primarily in 14K and 18K gold and platinum, using traditional goldsmithing techniques to create bands with carefully considered profiles, finishes and details. Christian also incorporates hand engraving into selected designs, using the traditional hand-push technique he learned in Geneva. Each band is individually made and finished by us in our studio.

Natural gemstones and diamonds can also become part of a band design. As GIA-trained gemmologists, we select stones for their colour, proportions and character, drawing from the extensive collection of loose natural gemstones we have acquired from sources around the world.

Many of our bands are one of a kind or made individually in small numbers. Some are designed to stand alone, while others can be worn alongside an engagement ring, another band or as part of a more personal ring stack. Working one piece at a time allows us to consider the width, profile, setting and finish carefully so the completed band feels balanced and comfortable on the hand.

Our bands can be viewed by appointment in our Toronto showroom, and selected pieces are available directly through our online shop for shipping within Ontario and across Canada. You can also see our latest work in person at the exhibitions we attend throughout the year.

Custom bands and jewellery remodelling

Custom-made bands are an important part of our work. We can develop a new design around a particular width, profile, metal, finish, engraving style or gemstone combination, whether you are looking for a band to wear on its own or one designed to work alongside an existing ring.

We also remodel clients’ existing jewellery, incorporating suitable gemstones or precious metal when appropriate. A treasured ring, family stone or piece of jewellery that is no longer being worn can often become the starting point for something new.
