Design Story
This ring began with an exceptional Mozambique ruby whose vivid red colour, remarkable clarity, and beautifully balanced emerald-cut proportions needed very little embellishment. Our intention was to create a pure, sculptural composition in which every line supported the quality of the centre stone. Four baguette diamonds extend the ruby’s crisp geometry, while rich 18K yellow gold gives the red a warm and quietly luxurious presence. The design is refined allowing the rarity and precision of the gemstones to create the sense of value. It is a distinguished one-of-a-kind ring with collector’s quality and the permanence of a precious personal heirloom.

Metal, Setting and Wearability
The ring is handmade in solid 18K yellow gold and weighs 5.80 grams. The emerald-cut ruby and four baguette diamonds are arranged across the top in a precise linear setting that keeps the gemstones visually connected while preserving the purity of their individual shapes. The top setting measures approximately 10.30 x 6.60 mm.

Gemmologist’s Note
Fine rubies combine colour, clarity, cut, and size in a way that becomes increasingly uncommon as carat weight rises. This 2.11 ct Mozambique ruby is exceptionally clean and has a vivid red colour with an elegant length-to-width ratio. Its well-executed cut creates broad, orderly reflections rather than the fragmented sparkle of a brilliant cut, making both the colour and clarity especially visible.
From selecting the ruby and diamonds to completing the solid gold setting, this exceptional ring was designed and handmade in-house by Christian and Helen in our Toronto studio.
