Design Story
Our idea for this half eternity ring was to create a rainbow within a single colour family. The nine pink tourmalines move through subtly different shades, tones, and levels of saturation, forming a lively sequence while remaining harmonious as a group. Pink tourmaline has a calmer and often more nuanced colour character than pink sapphire, which gives us a broad range of hues to work with. Their brightness brings joy to the ring, while yellow gold adds warmth beneath the changing pinks. It is a precious design, well suited to an anniversary or simply to someone who enjoys colour as part of everyday jewellery.
Gemstone Details
- 9 natural round cut pink tourmalines, VS clarity, Type II GIA, 1.10 ct tw.
Metal, Setting and Wearability
The half eternity ring is handmade in solid 14K yellow gold and weighs 3.90 grams. The nine round tourmalines are arranged across the upper half of the band, keeping the colour visible from the top while leaving a plain gold section beneath the finger for practical wear and future sizing considerations. The ring measures approximately 3.50 mm in width, giving the gemstone row a distinct presence.

Gemmologist’s Note
Pink tourmaline belongs to a gemstone family known for an unusually broad range of colours and tonal variations. Even within pink, individual stones may lean toward rose, blush, mauve, or brighter saturated hues. For this ring, those natural differences are used deliberately rather than hidden, creating a tonal progression with both harmony and movement. The stones’ VS clarity and brightness allow the changing pink colours to remain crisp and lively across the band.
From selecting the individual tourmalines to completing the solid gold setting, this one-of-a-kind ring was designed and handmade by Christian and Helen in our Toronto studio.
