Design Story
This Montana sapphire ring was designed around a clean Art Deco-inspired composition: one rectangle and two circles. We often enjoy this kind of structure with emerald cut stones, because the geometry gives the ring clarity without making it feel severe. The green-blue Montana sapphire was chosen first, then the design was kept intentionally clean so the stone’s colour zoning and shape could remain central. The yellow gold brings warmth to the sapphire, while the two round diamond accents soften the geometry and make the ring feel refined, balanced, and suitable as a distinctive engagement ring.
Gemstone Details
- One (1) natural emerald cut Montana sapphire, 1.80 ct, green blue colour, VS clarity, GIA Type II.
- Two (2) brilliant cut lab-grown diamonds, 0.14 ct TW, F-G colour, VS1 clarity.
Metal, Setting and Wearability
The ring is handmade in solid 14K yellow gold and weighs 4.2 gr. It measures approximately 8.90 mm in width, with a clean three-stone setting that balances the emerald cut Montana sapphire between two round brilliant cut accents. The low, well-proportioned arrangement gives the ring a distinctive presence while keeping it practical and comfortable to wear.

Gemmologist’s Note
Montana sapphires are sought after by collectors for their natural range of blue, green, teal, and colour-zoned tones. This emerald cut sapphire has a distinct green-blue character, with colour zoning that gives the stone extra individuality rather than a flat, uniform appearance. Although our work normally focuses on natural gemstones, this specific ring explicitly includes lab-grown diamond accents; the centre stone remains a natural Montana sapphire and the main gemmological focus of the piece.
Made one piece at a time in our Toronto studio, this design reflects our focus on thoughtful proportions, careful gemstone selection, and jewellery that feels personal to wear.
