Design Story
There is something we have always enjoyed about setting a round stone within a square form. It gives this diamond ring an Art Deco-inspired character while still keeping the design warm and wearable in yellow gold. The natural brilliant cut diamond sits at the centre, while the hand-engraved details bring texture and individuality to the top and sides of the ring. The engraving was done by Christian Hasler, and it gives the piece the personal quality our customers often respond to in handmade jewellery. It feels meaningful as an engagement ring, but also individual enough to be worn as a special diamond ring with its own story.
Gemstone Details
- 1 natural brilliant cut diamond, G colour, VS2 clarity, 0.18 ct.
Metal, Setting and Wearability
The ring is handmade and hand engraved in solid 14K yellow gold in our Toronto studio and weighs 4.20 grams. The square top motif measures approximately 5.10×5.10 mm, giving enough surface for the engraving to be appreciated without making the ring feel heavy. The round diamond sits neatly within the square form, while the engraved side details add a finely finished character that is best seen in person.
This one-off creation is available in size 6 1/4 in our showroom or for immediate shipping. Please contact us for sizing availability.
Gemmologist’s Note
In a ring like this, the diamond is chosen not only for sparkle but for how it works with the handmade setting. The G colour and VS2 clarity give the stone a clean, bright appearance, while the brilliant cut brings light to the centre of the engraved yellow gold. Natural diamonds remain important in our work because they offer durability, subtle individuality, and a sense of permanence that suits jewellery made to be worn and kept over time.
Handcrafted by Christian and Helen in our Toronto studio, this ring was made as an individual creation, with attention to balance, wearability, and the character of the materials.
