Design Story

This blue zircon ring was designed around contrast, an approach we often return to in our work. The halo has an antique character, with bead and engraved details giving the setting texture and a sense of history. At its centre, the vivid blue zircon feels bright and contemporary, creating an unexpected conversation between old and new. The rich yellow gold strengthens that contrast and complements the zircon’s slightly greenish blue colour. Diamonds add small points of light around the stone without competing with its remarkable brilliance. The result is refined, joyful, and individual: a compact one-of-a-kind ring with a great deal of colour and character.

Gemstone Details

• 1 natural oval cut blue zircon, vivid slightly greenish blue colour, VS clarity, GIA Type II, 1.47 ct.
• 6 natural brilliant cut diamonds, G-H colour, VS1 clarity, 0.07 ct TW.

Metal, Setting and Wearability

The ring is handmade in solid 14K yellow gold and weighs 3.2 gr. The top measures approximately 6.90 x 5.80 mm, giving the ring a refined and comfortable scale. Bead and engraved details create the antique-inspired halo around the zircon, while the diamonds bring added brightness and definition. The warmth of the yellow gold provides a rich setting for the slightly greenish blue colour of the centre stone.

Gemmologist’s Note

Natural zircon is prized for its high refractive index and strong dispersion, qualities that give a well-cut stone exceptional brightness and flashes of spectral colour. Blue zircon has attracted renewed attention in the gem trade, and we have worked with it for many years because very few coloured gemstones can equal its lively brilliance. This stone’s slightly greenish blue colour is especially effective against yellow gold. Zircon is a natural gemstone and should not be confused with synthetic cubic zirconia.
