Design Story

This aquamarine ring was designed around generosity of scale. We wanted the stone and the gold to feel substantial together, allowing the large cabochon to remain the clear focus while the solid yellow gold gives it the visual weight it needs. The aquamarine has a calm green-blue colour and a softly translucent appearance, creating a strong contrast with the richness of the metal. Although the ring is bold, the rounded cabochon and balanced proportions keep it approachable and comfortable to wear. It is a one-of-a-kind piece for someone who enjoys expressive jewellery and the quiet presence of a large natural gemstone.

Metal, Setting and Wearability

The ring is handmade in solid 14K yellow gold and weighs 9.8 gr. It measures approximately 13.20 x 9.00 mm, giving the design a bold and generous scale on the hand. The substantial gold construction balances the large aquamarine and supports its softly rounded cabochon form, while the smooth profile allows the colour and natural character of the stone to remain central to the design.

Gemmologist’s Note

Aquamarine belongs to the beryl family and is best known for colours ranging from pale blue to greenish blue. Cabochon aquamarines are often translucent rather than transparent, with a softer, sometimes milky appearance that shows the body colour in a different way from a faceted stone. This 17 ct aquamarine retains the green-blue character associated with the gem and has the substantial size needed to make its calm colour an important part of the ring.
