Design Story
This hessonite garnet ring brings an antique feeling into a more wearable, modern form. The design was inspired by an older way of finishing a halo, using bead detail and an engraved pattern to give the setting texture and character. The warm orange hessonite has a strong presence, while the diamonds add just enough light around it without taking away from the colour of the centre stone. The result is refined and joyful, with a vintage reference that feels personal rather than formal.
Gemstone Details
- One (1) natural oval cut hessonite garnet, 1.3 ct, orange colour, VS clarity, GIA Type II.
- Six (6) natural brilliant cut diamonds, 0.07 ct TW, G-H colour, VS1 clarity.
Metal, Setting and Wearability
The ring is handmade in solid 14K white gold and weighs 3.2 gr. The top measures approximately 6.70 x 5.70 mm, giving the ring a refined, easy-to-wear scale. Engraved and bead details add texture to the compact halo, while the diamonds bring light around the hessonite garnet without taking attention away from its warm orange colour.
This one-of-a-kind creation is available in size 6 1/2 and is ready to ship. We may be able to adjust the size; please contact us to confirm sizing availability.
Gemmologist’s Note
Hessonite is a variety of grossular garnet, appreciated for its honey, cinnamon, and orange tones. A true, vivid orange colour is not common in the gem world, and this stone has the lively warmth that makes hessonite so appealing. The natural diamonds are chosen for proportion and brightness, bringing light to the antique-inspired halo without overwhelming the garnet’s colour.
Created in our Toronto studio, this ring brings together Christian and Helen’s work as artisan-goldsmiths and gemmologists, with every detail considered from gemstone selection to final finish.
