Design Story

Part of our award-winning Ice Collection, this one-of-a-kind ring grew from an improvisational approach to colour and form. We wanted to create a contemporary composition that would not feel predictable, using a cushion-cut peridot as a vivid green centre and a frame of pink sapphires for an unexpected contrast. The result has the feeling of a modern colour palette translated into jewellery: bright green and pink held within the warmth of yellow gold. The peridot’s generous shape gives the ring presence, while the smaller sapphires bring rhythm and a playful edge to the design. It is an expressive piece for someone who enjoys strong colour and jewellery that feels genuinely individual.

Gemstone Details

• 1 natural cushion cut Burmese peridot, 3.73 ct (TW), VS clarity, GIA Type II; excellent cut.
• 12 natural round cut pink sapphires, 0.48 ct (TW).

Metal, Setting and Wearability

The ring is handmade in solid 14K yellow gold and weighs 8.00 gr. The top setting measures approximately 16.50 x 16.50 mm, giving the design a generous presence on the hand. The cushion-cut peridot forms the broad green centre of the composition, while the pink sapphires create a contrasting frame around it. The substantial gold construction supports the scale of the setting and gives the ring the balanced feel needed for comfortable wear.

Gemmologist’s Note

Peridot is the gem variety of olivine and is appreciated for a green colour that occurs naturally within the mineral itself. Burmese peridot can show some of the richest and most attractive green we encounter, and this stone was chosen for both its colour and the quality of its cushion cut. The cut adds volume and visual interest while allowing the peridot to face up with a lively, generous appearance. As a GIA Type II gemstone, some natural inclusions may be expected, although this example has VS clarity and presents especially well at the centre of the ring.
