From Fashion Ring to Heirloom

A Custom Sapphire and Diamond Creation:

Every now and then, a client comes to us not just with a beautiful gemstone, but with a story.

This recent commission is a perfect example. A piece that began with a cherished fashion ring and ended as a timeless heirloom, handmade in white gold and set with meaningful stones. Our client had a simple ring she’d worn for years. Though it wasn’t made of precious materials, it held sentimental value, and she loved the way it looked and felt. It featured a classic design that suited her perfectly, and she had long dreamed of recreating it in a more refined and lasting way. When she came to us, she brought with her two beautiful gemstones: an emerald-cut blue sapphire and diamonds, both full of memories. She asked us if we could replicate the original ring design, using her stones and crafting it in solid white gold.

Custom Made, Personally Meaningful

After a design consultation in our Toronto studio, we began the process of translating her beloved ring into a fine custom piece. Rather than suggesting something different or more elaborate, we honoured the original design just as she had hoped, keeping every curve and proportion true to her vision. The challenge and joy of this kind of work lies in taking something that already feels “just right” and elevating it, with better materials and craftsmanship that will last a lifetime.

We handcrafted her ring in-house, just as we do with all our commission work. Balancing the setting proportions around the larger sapphire while keeping the feel of the original intact. The diamond’s placement complemented the design and brought added brilliance without overwhelming the sapphire’s deep, rich hue.

The finished piece is elegant and understated, with the clean geometry of the emerald cut adding a refined edge. It now holds her cherished stones in a way that feels both familiar and elevated her original ring, only better.

A Personal Favourite, Now Forever

What made this project especially rewarding was the client’s reaction. Seeing something she’d loved for so long, now made with the real stones that meant something to her, brought genuine joy. It’s moments like this that remind us why we love custom work. It’s not just about making something new, it’s about making something right for our customer.

This ring is a perfect example of what we do: take a meaningful idea, refine it with care, and give it lasting form through thoughtful design and expert craftsmanship. Whether it’s an old sketch, a piece of costume jewellery, or a childhood memory, we can bring it to life in precious materials, always handmade by us in our Toronto studio.
